Schools in England have been instructed to close from the 20th March 2020 until further notice. All children are currently expected to stay at home and we have communicated this with all parents/carers. Care can be provided if required, please contact the school via email if you require this admin@kingsmead.derby.sch.uk or when someone from school contacts you please let us know.

Take care, stay safe

Key Worker Information

In order to comply with the Government’s guidance with regard to shutting schools and providing places for key worker children, it is necessary for us to collect and manage data about these children and their parents/carers in a different way.

Our standard GDPR policy applies, and information found on our privacy notices relating to staff, parents and of course pupils will apply in all cases.

We will use the information that relates to key workers in order to ensure that those children who are entitled to a place at school whilst schools are officially closed are correctly processed, managed and safeguarded.

The Data Controller continues to take its obligations to data processing seriously and will ensure that appropriate safeguards and measures are in place.

Newton's Walk Curriculum

At Newton’s Walk, we follow the 2014 National Curriculum guidelines for most subjects. Through the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum, we aim to provide all pupils with an appropriate range of opportunities for them to gain personal fulfilment through learning. Working in partnership with parents, carers and the wider community we aim to develop pupils socially, emotionally and academically. Children are taught in small groups and teachers endeavour to ensure that topics are matched to pupils interests and provide motivation.

Maths, Literacy, P.E, PSHE, Computing, Science, Music, R.E, Design and Technology, Art and Design is delivered to all pupils via cross-curricular topics which follow a two year cycle.

Children at Newton's Walk do not necessarily follow a programme delivered for specific academic year groups, we aim to teach the children as individuals and create individual / group programmes for them to work through.

When appropriate, pupils may be offered additional support in maths and literacy which will be time limited and impact focused.

We use a passport system in order to ensure all children are making good progress whilst at Newton's Walk; these contain lists of objectives that children will work through during their time with us. Please click on the links below to see these statements in detail.

You can contact us at Newton's Walk if you wish to find out more about our curriculum or specific information regarding what your child is currently learning.
